The Court Reporter

The court reporter takes down every word
Of testimony given in the court.
The shortest statement is of such import
That stenographic license is conferred
Only on those whose skill is absolute.
No digital or analog device
Is so reliable it would suffice
For generating transcripts of repute.
Since accuracy is the paramount
Concern, we gladly pay their salaries
Instead of harnessing technology.
Though officers can bias the account
By cherry picking what the jury sees,
No judge would stoop to change this policy.
